Obituary
FARRUGIA. On August 23, at Villa Messina, Rabat, CHARLES of St Julians, aged 92, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Joe and his wife Anna, Maria Falzon, Louise and her husband Bernd Grundmann, Tonio and his wife Marion, Paul and his wife Mariella and Robert, his grandchildren, his sisters and their families, in-laws, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Villa Messina today at 1.15 p.m. for Balluta parish church, St Julians, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

Films at Chinese Garden of Serenity in Sta Luċija
A Chinese film will be screened at 8.30 p.m. tomorrow, on Thursday and Friday at the Chinese Garden of Serenity in Sta Luċija. The shows are oganised by the China Culture Centre and the local council.
The films have English subtitles. Breaking the Silence tells of a touching story between a hardworking mother (starred by famous actress Gong Li) and her deaf son; the Last Headwoman describes the fight and efforts by an ethnic heroine for the well-being of her tribe men in a turbulent time, and You and Me is about a moving story between an old lady and a young girl who finally got along with each other despite differences in values and ways of life.
The films are open to the public free of charge. Complimentary refreshment will be served.

Graduates’ Mass
The Gozitan Graduates Movement has invited graduates and members of all professions in Gozo for first Friday Mass on September 3, which will be said by Fr Anton Grech at St Augustine’s church in Victoria at 8.30 p.m.
Sculpture Exhibition
Natura, an exhibition of sculpture in wood and stone by Gozitan sculptor Mario Agius, will be inaugurated at Palazzo Castellania in Merchants’ Street, Valletta on September 3 at 7.30 p.m.
The exhibition, which will be open to the public from September 6 till October 8, will be inaugurated by Public Dialogue Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said and introduced by art critic E.V. Borg. Entrance is free.
Mr Agius’s sculptures are inspired by nature. The public will have the opportunity to examine the texture of different kinds of wood from close range including olive, chestnut, raspberry, lime, red deal, carob and tamarisk.
Skolasajf Concert
To mark the end of Skolasajf 2010, a concert will be held at Luqa Primary School at 10 a.m. on Friday. Parliamentary Secretary for Local Councils Chris Said will be attending, along with Labour MP Stefan Buontempo and Luqa council members.
New Parish Priest
Archbishop Paul Cremona on Sunday invested Fr Ray Francalanza as the parish priest of St Augustine parish, Valletta.
