Two Paola men have been remanded in custody after pleading not guilty to an attempted theft from an elderly woman last Sunday.

Charles Ryan Vella, 21 and Christopher Philip Agius, 19, were charged with trying to grab jewellery off 64-year-old Miriam Muscat in Valletta, seriously injuring her in the process.

Mr Vella was also charged with stealing a handbag, which contained an ID card, keys, credit cards and a memory card and Mr Agius with being a relapser and breaching the conditions of a previous release.
