Chemimart Ltd, which distributes and sells pharmaceutical products, yesterday filed a court application for damages after it alleged that a Boots subsidiary in the UK had stopped supplying it with its products.
In its application filed against UK company Crookes Healthcare Ltd, Chemimart said that it had entered into an agreement with it in 1972 where it was appointed sole distributor in Malta for pharmaceutical products. Crookes Healthcare Ltd is a subsidiary of The Boots Company Ltd.
Although the agreement was still in force, Chemimart alleged that Crookes Healthcare had stopped supplying it with products and was instead supplying third parties in Malta.
Chemimart claimed that this was in breach of the agreement and it asked the First Hall of the Civil Court to order Crookes Healthcare to make good the damages it sustained.
Lawyer Richard Camilleri signed the application.
