After alerting the responsible authorities without any luck, I wish to raise awareness of two cases of gross mismanagement of our road safety procedures here in Nadur.

a) Triq Torri ta’ Kenuna has become a race track for some reckless drivers who apparently try their skills on a daily basis, particularly in the early evenings.

b) Nadur’s main road to Mġarr has become an accident-prone area. Some years ago, works at the playing field included a staircase and entrance/exit door to the main road. Instead of protecting exiting young people by some physical barrier, those responsible just installed a children crossing sign some 50 metres away from the exit! That is simply and definitely not enough.

I have spoken to the present mayor, and to the previous one, without luck. Moreover, neighbours at Triq Torri ta’ Kenuna have submitted a signed petition to the authorities for a sleeping policeman, to no avail. The local council blames Transport Malta, and thus we remain stuck.

But, for everyone’s information, we keep hammering the message that we care for the citizen and children in particular. Citizen service, my foot!
