Chemimart Limited has filed an action for damages after it alleged that a foreign company had stopped supplying it with pharmaceutical products.
In its application against UK company Crookes Healthcare Ltd, Chemimart said that it had entered into an agreement with the foreign company in 1972 in terms of which it was appointed sole distributor in Malta for pharmaceutical products.
Crookes Healthcare Ltd was a subsidiary of The Boots Company Limited.
Although the agreement was still in force, Chemimart alleged that Crookes Healthcare had stopped supplying it with products and was instead supplying third parties in Malta.
Chemimart claimed this was in breach of the agreement and it asked the First Hall of the Civil Court to order Crookes Healthcare to make good the damages it sustained.
