Several years ago, the University set up the University of the Third Age (Università tat-Tielet Età – U3E) in an endeavour to provide further education to retired persons.

Lectures on a number of subjects are delivered during the academic year.

The University charges a fee for this programme which, even though nominal, is still the only payment the University receives from its Maltese students attending the whole spectrum of morning courses.

Surely, the University can reconsider this and waive the fee in an effort to attract more senior citizens to the U3E this October. This gesture would undoubtedly be appreciated especially by those who leave no stone unturned in their pursuit to enhance their life-long education.
