Man apprehended at airport with cocaine capsules

A man was arrested within minutes of his arrival in Malta after the police suspected he had swallowed around 13 capsules of cocaine.

The 45-year-old man, who was born in Puerto Rico but lives in New York, was arrested on Friday afternoon at Malta International Airport when he arrived on a flight from the Netherlands.

He was arrested after Customs officials and the police suspected he had swallowed a number of capsules.

It is estimated he was carrying around130 grams in 10 capsules, sources told The Sunday Times.

He was remanded in custody and is expected to be charged in the coming days.
