James Blake has been named chief operations officer of Global Capital’s financial services division.
The chief operations officer’s role is taking on a wider mandate and Mr Blake will be primarily responsible for the company’s business processes and efficiencies, implementation of operational strategy and projects, with internal support functions.
Mr Blake is a director on the main board of Global Capital plc and is chairman of Global Capital Funds Sicav plc.
Throughout his tenure with the group he has held key senior roles, including managing director of Globe Financial Management Ltd during its early development.
Mr Blake has extensive knowledge of the financial services industry: in the early 1980s he trained and worked in the City of London. He returned to Malta in the early 1990s to participate in the significant changes taking place in Malta’s financial services legislation at the time.
Global Capital plc chief executive officer Nicholas Portelli reaffirmed the importance of experienced professionals occupying key roles within the organisation, saying it was the company’s intention to continue to invest in experienced professionals to strengthen its position as an insurance specialist.
