Man sues diocese over 'paedophile priest'
A man who says he was molested by an Irish priest in 1984 when he was nine, is suing California's Diocese of Santa Rosa.
The action, filed in Sonoma county Superior Court, claims the Bishop of Santa Rosa committed fraud by not revealing to the congregation that recently-arrived Patrick McCabe had been the target of several allegations of child sex abuse in his native Ireland.
McCabe, 74, who turned himself in to US authorities last month, is facing extradition to Ireland accused of sexually assaulting six boys from 1973 to 1981.
Lawyer Joe George claims in the lawsuit that his client recently found out through media reports that the bishop was aware of previous claims of sexual abuse by McCabe before he was assigned to St Bernard's Church in Eureka, California.

@ J Farrugia.
So what is your point exactly that since its a priest he is untouchable? or that priests did no harm?
What if this perosn or the local persons who witnessed these kind of behaviours from the so called preists was you or someone close to you would you comment in the same way?
I agree with the report of this story as in J Farrugia's opinion sky cnn and bbc or the sun should only report local matters are you serious ??????.
Thes type of comments and symathy towards priests who allegedly did these acts and ruined childrens lives disgust me.

J Farrugia, are you serious???? Has the church indocrinated you so much that you much prefer to see young boys and girls abused at will by some of their clergy and not do or say anything about it, and rather stick by them? Guess nobody has been abused in your family right? You'd be of a different opinion then... Wake up J Farrugia, this is not an attack against the Church but it is just a call to justice for the bad apples who have given the Church such a bad reputation. This is the reason why the Church does not have as many followers, it has let down its own people big time by not being loyal and true to them. Remember, your own Church states that Paedophilia is a Sin but they do not seem to want to do much about it...

What does this item got to do with Malta news? Jsut to show off your anti catholic feelings more than ever, in the 75 year history of the Times. What news value has this item for us in Malta? Who cares what this man does in the US? Just to incite maltese citizens to start filing court cases against the local church authorities so that they can live off the curia's money? What sort of reportage is this? Even when Mons Gouder gave an interview on a local radio your media opted to make titles that didn't reflect the truth ... just to obscure the Rev Fr. Shame on the times once more.

Pathetic .Are you now suggesting censorship of the news?. I am not surprised. Those are the sort of tactics that we are well used to.Pity Lehen Is Sewwa is not around, they would have been eager to employ someone like you. Fascism is not dead,it is well, alive and kicking in Malta.

Actually it was published under " world news" .
Do you live in a fantasy island totally isolated from the rest of the world?
Should the times start censoring what does not appeal to your pious sentiments?
Why do you keep reading "The Times" if it is shameful?
I can tell you what is truly revolting: a series on Discovery channel titled "Toddlers and Tiaras"....I watched part of an episode and decided to never watch that particular trash ever again......cos we have a choice......use it.
It's a free world....get real.
