Obituary

CIAPPARA. On August 12, at Mater Dei Hospital, ANGELO of Naxxar, aged 81, passed away peacefully, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his children Maryann, Joyce and her husband Charles Azzopardi, Pawlu and his wife Lina, Sonja and her husband Paul Xuereb and Angela and her husband Jesmond Grima, his grandchildren Donald, Lianne, Melinda, Ian, Carlos, Annalise, Janice, Mathias, Alexia and Kylie, and Mary, widow of his brother Victor, who resides in America, his in-laws and their families, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 8.15 a.m. for Naxxar parish church, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 8.45 a.m., followed by interment at Naxxar cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

FALZON. On August 12, ANNIE of Marsa, aged 81, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. She leaves to mourn her loss her sisters Carrie and her husband Luke Cutajar, and Tessie, her brother Alfred and his wife Doris, in-laws Therese, Marija and Anthony and his wife Lucy, nephews and nieces, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves St Vincent de Paul Residence tomorrow at 2 p.m. for the Holy Trinity parish church, Marsa, where a Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 2.30 p.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be greatly appreciated. Good Lord, grant her eternal rest.

MALLIA. On August 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, RONALD of Johnsons Stationers, passed away peacefully after a short illness borne with Christian fortitude, comforted by the rites of Holy Church. He leaves to mourn his loss his beloved wife Gladys, his children Stefan and his fiancée Rose Marie, Lara, Louisa and her husband Lee Connell, his granddaughter Mattea, his brothers and sisters, Joe and his wife Rosette, Eric and his wife Pina, Antoinette and her husband Stephen Overend, Cynthia and her husband Alfred Pace, his in-laws, other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital tomorrow at 9.30 a.m. for Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, Valletta, where a Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 10 a.m., followed by interment at Santa Maria Addolorata Cemetery. No flowers by request but donations to Dar tal-Providenza, Siġġiewi, will be appreciated. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

PILCHER. On August 19, at Mater Dei Hospital, MICHAEL FRANCIS, widower of Eleanor, aged 93, passed away peacefully. He leaves to mourn his loss his daughter Kate, his nieces Rebecca and her husband Martin and son Joseph, Ruth and Ellie and his nephew Tom and friends in the UK and Malta.

VELLA. On August 17, WAYNE of Mġarr, aged 25, died tragically at his work place. He leaves to mourn his loss his parents Twanny and Mary, his sister Sharon and husband Josef Caruana, his brother Quintin and wife Clair, his grandmother Roża, his uncles and aunts Mary, Pawlu, Louis, Godfrey, Rita and Joe and their families, Fr Edgar and David, Nina, Karmnu, Leli, Joe, Salvina and Doris and their families, many other relatives and friends. The funeral leaves Mater Dei Hospital today at 3.30 p.m. for St Mary’s parish church, Mġarr, where Mass praesente cadavere will be said at 4 p.m. followed by interment in the family grave at Mġarr Cemetery. Lord, grant him eternal rest.

CASSAR – FRANK. Treasured memories of a very dear husband and father on the second anniversary of his passing into eternal life. Always in our thoughts and prayers. Power cuts

Power will be suspended for scheduled maintenance tomorrow in the following localities:

Cultural outing

A cultural outing to Senglea, Naxxar and Mellieħa will be held by the Tarxien local council on September 7.

A festival of fruit and vegetables, arts and crafts, traditional food and entertainment will be held in Manikata Road, Manikata on August 28 at 8 p.m.

Fr Raymond Francalanza has been appointed parish priest of St Augustine’s parish, Valletta.
