Pump it up

Parliamentary Secretary for local councils Chris Said (centre) yesterday inaugurated a traditional water pump where an old one once stood in San Ġużepp Square, Safi. The local council has just installed photovoltaic panels on its offices and renovated the village square.

We have struck oil !!!
According to the news, the news photovoltaic system installed by the Safi Local Council will generate 13 units of electricity a day. That is a rather effective manner of keeping the consumption bills at bay. 13 units . . . wow.

A nice water pump with a stupid inauguration plaque next to it

The parliamentary secretary should be looking at the disaster that Safi is - with the approach road closed permanenlty and without warning to the residents instead of 'inaugurating' silly gimmicks which don't even work. The pump by the way is padlocked so it is of no value to us residents. The so called 'embellishment is just a hugely wide pavement that has taken away parking space from residents.
It is a pity the the council especially the mayor are only intererested in trifles... and what is Franco Debono doing there? I voted for that man last time and I admire his stance on serious things like the justice systema nd human rights but if I see him again posing like this he will surely not get my vote again.

Why do all these little things need to have an inauguration and a marble plaque to boot?
We do not see that in other countries.

Very nice touch to a very pretty area. The bronze aluminium window in the background sticks out like a sore thumb though.
