A 24-year-old man was yesterday charged with stealing €75,000 from a petrol station in June and July.
During that time, Alan Giordimaina of St Paul’s Bay, who is now unemployed, worked at Nick’s Service Station, situated in his hometown.
Sources said he had access to the firm’s safe, from where he would allegedly steal money about three times a week.
Arraigned yesterday, he pleaded not guilty to the charges, with his lawyer Frank Cassar requesting bail.
Magistrate Doreen Clarke upheld the request despite Inspector Daniel Zammit’s argument that the accused might interfere with the case, especially since he knew the four witnesses. Mr Giordimaina was granted bail against a deposit of €500 and a personal guarantee of €2,000.
