The police have arrested a man who was caught by bathers at Ghadira allegedly stealing from a bag this afternoon.

An eyewitness said a number of bathers chased the man, thought to be a migrant and held him. Lifeguards alerted the police who were near the beach and the officers quickly calmed the angry crowd and took the man away for questioning.

A quantity of watches and other cheap jewellery which the man had been selling, fell from his pockets as he was taken away. The jewellery was picked up by the police.
