The theme for this year’s edition of Voices is ‘Listen to the music’ in appropriately the theme of this year's edition of Voices.

The 10 concerts will take place at the Mediterranean Conference Centre; 10 evening shows will be held between October 6 and 10 and October 13 and17 and there will be a special matinée performance at 3.30 p.m. on the first Sunday of the month. There will only be a matinee show on October 10.

During a press conference which launched Voices, Gemma Mifsud Bonnici said her involvement as chairman of the Vodafone Malta Foundation has brought her in touch with “many philanthropic groups and altruistic individuals who have given their zeal , time and energy to give generously to underprivileged groups in society”.

Antonello Gauci, chairman of the foundation’s committee, spoke about this year’s theme, explaining that the slogan “not only encourages the public to literally listen to the music but also to listen to the world around us, paying more attention to social issues and to those who are in need”.

Also present was Education Minister Dolores Cristina , who praised the Voices concerts for the positive message they always deliver , adding that this year’s theme is all the more significant in a world where everyone is often too busy to stop and listen to others.

She also pointed out how much she personally enjoys the concerts which are eagerly attended by young and old alike.

With a 20-year-old tradition behind it, Voices is considered by many to be one of Malta’s musical institutions , which explains why its selection of popular music, performed by a 200strong choir and a live band, is so eagerly anticipated and attended.

Held every two years, Voices involves a lot of hard work from the participating singers and musicians, with taxing rehearsals held throughout the summer months to ensure the best possible performances, and all on a voluntary basis.

All proceeds from the tickets will go to charity, funding a major project as the main beneficiary and distributing the rest among other deserving charities. This year’s main beneficiary will be announced at a later date.

Tickets for Voices at €15, €20 and €25 will go on sale on September 17 from the MCC booking office as well as online from www.voices.org.mt.
