Care Malta, an accredited City and Guilds centre for education, is launching its second course leading to diplomas and special diplomas in health care.

The Malta Qualifications Council has confirmed that City and Guilds diplomas in health care are equivalent to six O' levels. The course will run for eight months, between October this year and June 2011, and lectures will be delivered at The Magister Academy in St Julian's.

Care Malta is also offering those who enrol for this course the opportunity to join the company as a trainee care assistant for the duration of the course. This approach will give students the possibility to put what they learn into practice and gain valuable hands-on experience within the industry, while also supplementing their income.

Those following the course but who do not opt to join the scheme will be required to perform 100 hours of placement.

Care Malta chief executive officer Natalie Briffa Farrugia said the strong feedback and success of the first course, offered a few months ago, prompted the company to hold a second course, thus offering the chance to those wanting to pursue a career in health care.
