It seems that everyone has an opinion on the divorce issue. I wonder why all the fuss. What prevents me from leaving my wife for another woman or a man?
What prevents my wife from leaving me for another man or woman?
If I wanted to leave and my wife found a way to withhold me from doing so, isn’t that a tragedy waiting to happen, or if my wife wanted to leave, would it not be the same scenario?
Everyone with some influential clout in this country wants to “give the people the way to good values”. Such pompousness I have yet to hear! Just because a person’s position is a bishop, Prime Minister, President, Opposition leader, member of Parliament etc does not make him capable of making my own mind!
So if you are in favour of divorce, good for you. If you are against, good for you also, as long as you reached your conclusion after thinking it through logically and sanely, and not because someone else said so, or because you are threatened by the fires of hell. And besides, marriage is a man-made institution. Before the word “marriage” comes the word “commitment”. Two people are committed to each other. For me, breaching that commitment would be a very painful period – but would I emerge stronger or weaker? That, in my opinion, is the crux of the debate.
