The Mosque in Paola is pictured during the first day of Ramadan in Malta, yesterday. During the month-long fast, devout Muslims abstain from eating, drinking, smoking and sexual relations from sunrise to sunset. Authorities across the globe yesterday urged Muslims to be merciful during this time.
