FinanceMalta and Malta Enterprise have combined their resources to set up a programme of 20 matchmaking events for the last quarter of 2010 that will seek to build healthy trade links with growth economies like China, Israel and other markets in Europe and the Gulf.
In their quest to build closer trade links and develop greater overseas market penetration on behalf of Malta-based businesses, FinanceMalta and Malta Enterprise have catered for every possible industry category including environmental technologies, call centres, financial services, food & beverage, IT, media, new energy, building materials and energy efficiency, waste management and recycling, biopharmaceuticals and emerging industries.
Malta Enterprise is also encouraging other trade delegations to Malta in order to provide them with a better understanding of the business climate and the country, enabling them to meet with local manufacturers and service providers. This calendar of events is the result of intensive efforts by Malta Enterprise, the Enterprise Europe Network (within Malta Enterprise), and FinanceMalta to create greater opportunities for joint ventures, investments, technology transfer, licensing and franchising between local and overseas companies.
In keeping with its role to promote Malta as an international financial centre, FinanceMalta is participating in a number of events that will take place between September and December: the HFM Week in London on September 22, the Asia-EU Business Forum and the Malta Week in Brussels between October 4 and 7, the European Captive Forum 2010 event in Luxembourg from October 19 to 20, and the ICAEW Bespoke Event in London on November 25 Events in Hong Kong and Abu Dhabi that will showcase Malta as an IFC are in the pipeline.
Kenneth Farrugia, chairman of FinanceMalta, stated: “Over these last 12 months both Malta Enterprise and FinanceMalta have teamed up in the organisation and participation of various international promotional initiatives. In this way, the various joint initiatives that are being organised aimed at communicating Malta’s value proposition to the international community are being further strengthened as a result of the combination of our respective resources.”
Malta Enterprise executive chairman, Alan Camilleri, stated that the main aim of the events is to encourage more local micro and SME companies to consider internationalising their operations.
He added that the programme offers a range of “networking” business packages from business delegations to trade fair participation, brokerage events, seminars and other networking opportunities.
