Being residents of Żurrieq, my wife and I were hit by last weekend’s never-ending power cut. When we arrived home on Saturday night, we found the streets engulfed in pitch blackness.
One can understand an occasional power cut now and then. But when we awoke the next morning, we found that the power was still not restored. Unbeleivably it was restored early that afternoon at around 1.30 p.m.!
One can imagine what frustrations a person has to endure during so many long hours of no electricity, especially in summer when a fan or air-conditioner is essential. No need to mention that our freezer thawed out, thus ruining what it contained.
One has to remember that in a supposedly advanced country like ours this kind of service is unacceptable, even more so when considering the exorbitantly high bills we have to pay.
An hour, or maybe two hours of no power, are acceptable, but a whole night and half a day is outrageous.
Shame on Enemalta.
