Tony Coleiro has been appointed Tourism Ambassador for Europe by the Institute of Hospitality’s executive council and international board of ambassadors.

Mr Coleiro is a chartered consultant by profession and has been serving as director on the Malta Tourism Authority board since 2008.

The institute represents professional managers in the hospitality, leisure and tourism industries and has a worldwide membership represented in all sectors of the industry including hotels, contract catering, restaurants, pubs and clubs, as well as leisure outlets, theme parks and sports venues.

Its primary purpose is to promote the highest professional standards of management and education in the international hospitality, leisure and tourism industries. It is managed as an educational institution, and exists to benefit its members in their career and professional development.

There are currently eight international ambassadors representing Africa, Asia, Australia and Oceania, Middle East, Caribbean and South America, North America, southern Europe and Mediterranean, and Europe.

They provide a point of contact for members in their region and for anyone wanting to know more about the institute. They also liaise directly with national tourism organisations, tourism and hospitality groups and other professional bodies and entities.

Mr Coleiro is a fellow and chairman of The Institute of Hospitality – Malta Chapter, and a fellow of the Sales and Marketing Management Association, the Institute of Travel and Tourism, and the Association of Tourism and Hospitality Executives, among other international and European management institutional recognitions.

He is married to Grace and has two daughters, Mireille Sarah and Daphne Ann.
