Four armed and hooded men shot at a shop window and held up a salesman at Fexco in St Augustine Street, St Julian’s, asking for money and fleeing from the crime scene in a vehicle.

The police said the incident happened at around 9.45 a.m. The men tried to get into the shop and fired two shots at the display window.

The salesman, a 31-year-old man from Marsa, was inside the shop and the thieves asked for money before escaping.

Although no one was injured, the salesman had to be treated for shock.

Magistrate Silvio Meli is holding an inquiry.
