In summer I like swimming in Ta’ Xbiex, just under Sir Augustus Bartolo Street. However, this was not the case last Saturday afternoon when, on arriving there, we found the sea littered with wooden planks.

This was made worse by the strong wind which was dragging building material from the construction works currently taking place along the Ta’ Xbiex seafront.

I am writing in the hope that whoever is responsible for the construction works going on in the area ensures that the material does not end up in the sea, polluting it, and spoiling the area which, besides being ideal for swimming, has such wonderful views of Marsamxett Harbour.
