Two men arrested after drugs find

Two foreigners have been arrested following a drugs find at the airport yesterday afternoon.

The police said in a statement that a 19-year-old Portuguese was held by Customs Official after nearly a kilo of cocaine and heroin was found in the soles of his shoes.

He was stopped on his arrival in Malta on a direct flight from Düsseldorf.

The police continued with their investigations and at night arrested a 35-year-old Nigerian who lives in Marsa, who it believed the drugs were intended for.

The Nigerian was arrested in Bugibba.

Magistrate Consuelo Scerri Herrera is holding an inquiry.

The two men are expected to be arraigned in court this afternoon.

And quite right they are too. Better an executed Drug baron than a 100 despairing families because of their children's addiction to drugs.

Is it only the foreigners dealing in drugs that you have a problem with? look at the other news stories today, there is a man from Gharb also arraigned for dealing in drugs. Is it because the Nigerian is black?

then maybe the maltese need to reject that drug culture and say no, then the traffickers will go elsewhere

No mate, it not just because he is Nigerian. However in the last 6 weeks 3 different Nigerians were arrested because of being involved with trying to import quite a sizable amount of drugs.

Please note that we have more than enough of our own undesirables, and we do not need African Imports first coming over pleading poverty bla bla bla and then having more than enough money to finance their drug dealings.

That's exactly the point, we have enough of our own, we don't need foreign carbage as well.
you mention Black, why? are they both black !!!!. if you think you are going to shame me ,you're miles away.

@ Chris Finch

That is exactly the point. We have enough homegrown drug traffickers, we don't need to import more. Moreover, if you check statistics you will find that Africans are proportionately over-represented many times over where drug crimes are involved.

@ D.Borg.

Although the way in which she presented it may not be correct, she does have a point. That country is not really in need of any assistance, so why are we accepting illegal immigrants from there? It's like accepting illegal immigrants from Finland, or Japan. Why? If they want to come here through proper legal channels, all's well and good, but otherwise, please, give us a break!
