Video: Victor G. Mercieca
Firefighters from the Civil Protection Department battled for an hour to put out a grass fire in Mellieha late yesterday afternoon. The blaze is believed to have started from discarded flammable refuse and was fanned by the wind.

i chiose to live in mellieha as in my opinion it is the very best place to live...it is cleaner and more pleasant than many ther places by far. i think those visitors to mellieha who do not reside here need to look at their behaviour in terms of rubbish and waste ]
left behind. ...please take it with you - taxpayers or not - this is a beautful place as is much of malta - you malti should be as proud of malta as I am (and I am Britsih and proud of it but just as proud of the village i chose to live in) -but i think you are more proud of your own homes - you wouldnt leave your own home in the state that you leave your own countryside and beaches.....please clean up your act.

Mellieha might be a nice place but recently, the sandy beach was full of stones and not pebbles.
Those who continue to boast the popularity of Mellieha should declare their town of origin as most of them might be from Mellieha itself.

Mr Zammit, I was born and raised in Mellieha and very proud of it. I see you did not mention where you come from so much for that. " Mellieha might be a nice place but recently, the sandy beach was full of stones and not pebbles." First of all Mellieha is a nice place and there must be a better explanation to the pebbles and stones on the beach. There are other beaches that might better meet your expectations. So Mr Zammit I am a Melliehi and very proud to boast about Mellieha. About the stones on the beach, please be careful not to stump your toe on one of them. Joseph Calleja, Melliehi at heart.

In my opinion Mellieha is by far the most beautiful village on our island. It boasts of impeccable sea and country views and as yet remains one of the least populated areas . Shame on those who try to ruin our environment with reckless behaviours..
