Angela Xuereb Anastasi has been elected the first Dean of the newly- established Faculty of Health Sciences at the University of Malta.

This was formerly the Institute of Health Care, set up in 1987, but only now given the status of a faculty, making it the 12th faculty at the university.

Prof. Xuereb Anastasi has many years of academic experience, gained at the university and in the UK.

Since her appointment in 1995 as Associate Professor, she has held many administrative positions within the university and has been responsible for the Applied Biomedical Science Division (formerly Medical Laboratory Science Division).

She lectures in Biomedical Biochemistry and Research Methods. Her research interests concern mainly the genetics of osteoporosis.

She has had over 40 articles published in international peer-reviewed journals, and has contributed chapters to books. She was recently promoted to Full Professor.
