The Floriana FC nursery participated for the first time in the Welsh Super Cup in Aberyswyth, played recently.
Floriana teams figured in two categories – the U-11 and U-14. These groups were led by official Laurence Borg and coaches Philip Pisani and Tony Alamango.
The U-11s had a very good tournament and went on to place third.
Also, a very positive aspect was the fact that a couple of Floriana’s junior players caught the eyes of various scouts, some representing top clubs like Liverpool, Everton Aston Villa and Manchester United.
The nursery already received enquiries from these clubs, asking for more details about the promising Floriana players.
The U-14 group won all their matches bar one which they drew. They went on to reach the final in the Challenge Cup which they lost 2-1.
The performance of this group was of a very high level as well and it also caught the eye of the organisers, naming Floriana U-14 as one of the best teams in the tournament.
