Viewers of local television over the years might still recall Tiritombla, a gaming show which used to be broadcast every Saturday afternoon.

The game, operated by the Department of Public Lotto, had stopped airing but Maltco reintroduced the game under the Bingo75 moniker at the end of last year, with the games being shown at Maltco points of sale and online, instead of on TVM.

Bingo75, operating daily, currently sells around 1,000 coupons at €3 a day and Maltco has just tweaked the game following feedback from its clients. Gamers can win at least €50,000 with the Snowball – even though chances are slim at 1:212,000.

Following the launch of Bingo75, Maltco Lotteries Ltd yesterday announced new enhancements meant to bring the game more in line with bingo lovers’ preferences.

The game is played with a set of numbers from 1 to 75, out of which 55 numbers are drawn at random by means of a certified Random Number Generator as required by the Lotteries and Gaming Authority.

Players may win in three categories, namely Corners, Snowball and House.

In the Corners category, the player who first covers each of the numbers in the four corners of a grid wins. Moreover, the range of players who can now win this category is within the first 55 numbers instead of the previous 30 numbers drawn.

The House category is won if all the 24 numbers in a grid are drawn throughout the draw. If the House category is not won, the prize fund for that draw will now be added to the kitty for the House category in the following draw instead of rolling over onto the Snowball category.

The prize fund allocated to the house category is now bigger at 45 per cent of the snowball prize.

These changes mean prizes for the Corners and House categories should be higher without the winning probabilities being altered.

“We listened to what players and our agents told us about what they would like to see in Bingo75,” said Mario Cassar, Maltco general director.

“These changes show Maltco Lotteries’ commitment to continue delivering outstanding value and service in a manner that is beneficial to all stakeholders within the regulatory parameters.”

The Bingo75 draw may be followed at Maltco Points of Sale or on Smash TV daily at 6.15 p.m. with a repeat on Calypso TV at 8 p.m. It is also streamed on www.maltco.com/bingo75.
