I have been extremely impressed by the young officer who is working out of Senglea sub police station.
I have seen him walking around the city on numerous occasions.
He is certainly gaining the confidence and getting to know a lot of local residents who feel reassured to have a visible police presence.
I spoke to him and told him how good it was to see him; I managed to reminisce about my time as a police officer in the UK where I mainly held roles within community policing. The main weapon against crime is high visibility polic-ing and direct face-to-face contact.
I have also noticed a higher presence of mobile patrols around the whole island – again this can only be of extreme benefit to all citizens as it does act as a deterrent to possible offences being committed.
