New training lab at iCentre

A new computer lab has just been inaugurated by iCentre, Malta’s authorised Apple service pro­vider, in its Pieta premises for training programmes in Apple-related hardware and software and other software skills.

The training programmes, starting in October, cover a range of technical expertise that extends from Apple’s Mac OS X system to digital applications for photo editing, audio and video production, and desktop publishing.

“I feel that we are now in a position to offer a complete package to our customers. Having represented Apple in Malta for the past 29 years, and being the only Apple authorised service provider on the island, training was the missing link,” Adrian Micallef, general manager at iCentre explained to i-Tech. “I strongly believe that training is the quickest and most cost effective way for individuals to ensure they maximise the potential of today’s digital technology.”

Length of courses varies depending on the subject, from a couple of hours to more than 25 hours. Courses will feature small class sizes, usually not more than 10 trainees per class, and each trainee will have a Mac workstation to work on.

“Although our training lab is set up with Macs, we are actually targeting training for Mac and non-Mac users, photo imaging enthusiasts, designers, audio-visual fanatics and the like. Obviously there are some subjects that are only available for the Mac platform, such as iLife, iWork, Final Cut and Logic, however we will cover other subjects that apply for other platforms too,” added Mr Micallef.
