Interpretation centres
In the report Tarxien Temples To Be Protected By Tent (July 30), Heritage Malta chairman Joe Said was quoted as saying that “this project was of a higher priority than the construction of an interpretation centre at the same site, announced several years ago”.
Further on, the same report informed the readers that: “The Tarxien works are part of a wider project to upgrade the temples and historic sites, including the building of an interpretation centre at Ġgantija.”
May I ask why, what is considered to be “of a higher priority” in the case of Tarxien Temples are not considered as such in the case of Ġgantija Temples?
As far as I know the Ġgantija Temples’ historical value is estimated to be as high as that of the Tarxien Temples. So why not give both temples the same priorities?
I would like to have an answer from the competent authorities.

I agree with George Cremona. Ggantija is the jewel in the crown of our country's prehistoric temples and yet it is always at the bottom end of the list of priorities. The visitors' centre at Ggantija has long been mentioned, but of course, actions speak louder than words. Can Heritage Malta explain exactly what they plan to do in this matter?

Remember that Tarxien is 1 mile away from the highly corrosive power station emmissions. I would think it's under greater threat.

Going by what happened at Dwejra in Gozo, the "interpretation Centre" will just be a restaurant thinly disguised as an "interpretation centre" - whatever that is.
