Granted taxis tend to fly around at breakneck speeds however in this case the man was crossing an 8 lane road with a walk bridge right over his head!!

If he does survive i would sue him for the stress etc etc.. i mean what sort of normal person tries to cross that road with a walk bridge available, this is lack of discipline...the same goes for those people that as soon as they get to a zebra crossing they just step into the road..they have to wait untill cars stop! and respect traffic.

What was the man doing crossing there in the first place. I wonder if the car involved was a normal passenger car? What would have been said? People should never cross that road without using the proper methodes. That Bridge is not there for nothing!!! Zebra Crossings are not there just to be like a painting on the road!!! Traffic lights are not there to be used as christmas lights!!! When will people like you learn that nowadays you cannot just cross the road without using proper methodes. I am not saying that drivers are saints but pedestrians don't help by just crossing without using the proper methodes like Zebra or Pelikan Crossings, Traffic Lights,Bridges and other means.

In my first comment, I started with the fact that the pedestrian was at fault.
That having been said, it is a FACT - F-A-C-T - that what I say about white taxis holds true. If you frequently use that road and area, you would know what I mean.
In my humble opinion, the court sides with the more vulnerable - and the pedestrian is more vulnerable than the driver in the car.
In Malta, the way roads are planned and the limited space we have, does it make sense to drive at breakneck speed? Please, answer that question for me. Or, is it right for a white taxi to come at desperate speed and literally try to push you off the road, violently, in whatever lane you are. Please, have the decency to write back.

Even if the taxi was being driven at 200km/h, unfortunately, yes, the pedestrian is to blame in this case as "the man crossed the road under the bridge". The bridge is there for a reason - crossing 8 lanes is never safe!!!!!

Do you know where this road is? If you do you should know that no matter what speed the taxi was driven he would of still hit the man as he went on this road. 8 lane roads are never to be crossed. without either lights or bridges. I use this road everyday and some people just don't care how to cross that road. Also when go in direction to st venera just up from 13th Dicember road alot of people come out from the small bushes there and surprise you when you are driving. thgey do that also on 13th December road. That is dangerous for 1 the pedestrian and 2 the driver and 3 the passenger. Also they almost never use the Zebra crossing there. And the result is what happened today!

There is no such thing over there!!!!
The bridge exists but there are neither zebra crossing nor traffic lights where the accident happened.

Perhaps he is erroneously referring it to December 13 road

There is a white peugeot taxi that drives around at breakneck speed even in country lanes, sometimes with passengers onboard.

@ Franco

Fact! I have reported numerous white taxis that broke a handful of laws & regulations to the authorities, but obviously the response I always get from them seems to make the 'Ghajn ma tara, qalb ma tuga' proverb quite a real one indeed.
