Open-air events disrupted
In the space of a few days, three cases were reported of planned open-air cultural events that had to be cancelled or were disrupted: the Calleja/Cocciante/Warwick concert on the Granaries was postponed because of strong winds; the EU Baroque Orchestra programme in The Palace courtyard had to be relocated to an indoor venue because of the high level of humidity; and the Jazz Festival on the waterfront had to compete with the noise of fireworks from across the port.
Is it not time that the Prime Minister realised that the open-air theatre which he wants to foist on us is not going to be of any use to the people who would most want to use it?

There is going to be another occasion on the Fossos - open air - and this time there is going to be Elton John on 26 September.
It seems the organisers NnG as well as the Artists coming for these occasions, have a different opinion from those commenting on this medium.

Notwithstanding such 'disruptions' there have never been so many open air events like this year, and that proves that such events are extremely popular. In fact, they would be impossible to hold in winter.
As we have seen, postposing such events, even with big names having to change their schedules, is not such a big thing after all, and proves that where there's a will there's a way.

Why does the insistence of the Prime minister on having an open air theatre conjure a picture of Nero playing his harp while Rome burns?

In this case, Nero is busy adding fuel.
