Travelling around London on two wheels
Following the lead of cities like Paris, Dublin and Montreal, London has launched a major cycle hire scheme which aims to make transport in the city greener ahead of the 2012 Olympics.
In spite of accusations of being too expensive and too limited in scale, organisers promise to generate up to 40,000 extra cycle trips a day -- and to create the "best hire scheme in the World".

This type of scheme was tried in Oxford some years ago, the net result was eventually all the bycycles were stolen, this is the mentality of some over here, they take what they like and dont bother to return it, they will steal ornaments from gardens only to dump them just down the road, damaged ! when they are caught, the law does not punish them, and if spotted by the police, they do nothing, cant be bothered with the paperwork, so this London scheme is doomed, i hope im wrong, but we will see !
