On Thursday, July 29, at 10 a.m., I boarded Bus No. 41 because I wanted to travel to the tal-Qroqq area. Among other passengers, two young male foreigners came aboard.
They paid their fare and took a seat. Nothing extraordinary. Sometime into the trip, these young men told the driver that they wanted to stop by San "Giovanni" Pharmacy, which I understand to be the San Ġwann pharmacy. I am sure that somebody directed these people to take No. 41 bus and stop by San Ġwann Pharmacy. But the driver was not at all helpful, since all the time he was telling them to get off the bus and take No. 42 bus.
Going up Regional Road and so nearing my destination, I could not help but leave my seat and draw the attention of the driver to help these people by directing them to their desired destination. What I received in return is unprintable!
I do not know how this whole story finished, because I got off the bus. But I noticed the bus number, in case somebody in authority asks for it. What worries me most is the news that a consortium made up of bus owners and drivers is probably getting the contract to improve the transport system in Malta. Please do not make me laugh. You can never teach old dogs new tricks!
