Four face life for 90-second murder

Four teenagers are facing life sentences in the UK for carrying out a “brutal” knife and hammer attack in which a 22-year-old man was killed in just 90 seconds.

Three youths aged 17 and a fourth aged 16, all from Woolwich, south east London, were found guilty at the Old Bailey of murdering Moses Nteyoho last October.

Mr Nteyoho was attacked as he walked along with a friend on the Thamesmead estate in south east London.

Max Hill QC, prosecuting, said it happened when a minicab containing five males pulled up alongside the Tavy Bridge elevated walkway last October.

“The passengers alighted, then returned to the taxi some 90 seconds later. The five passengers got in and the taxi drove away,” Mr Hill said.

“During the intervening 90 seconds, Moses Nteyoho was approached by these males as he walked along Tavy Bridge with his friend, Simon Olweny-Otim.

“Both were chased, Simon escaping just as Moses was cornered beside construction hoardings on one side of the bridge.

“Moses was subjected to a brutal attack by more than one of the five passengers, who were armed with weapons including at least one knife and one hammer.

“He was left for dead, and the five passengers made off just as they had arrived – by taxi.”

The court heard that the four youths – who cannot be named because of their ages – murdered Mr Nteyoho together with a fifth unknown suspect. They were remanded in custody to be sentenced at a date to be fixed.
