Updated: Two women, boy, injured in accident

Video: Ryan Borg

Two women and a 10-year old boy were injured this morning during a collision under the Sta Venera tunnel (Marsa to St Julian’s direction) between a grey Opel Zafira and a blue Ford Ka at around 11.15 a.m. They are not in a critical condition and the boy's injuries are slight.

The police said that a 34-year-old woman from Birkirkara was driving the KA. The boy, also from Birkirkara, was her passenger. The Zafira was being driven by a 39-year-old woman from Sliema. Both cars were driving in the same direction.

I don't want to be sexist, but last time I was driving in Marsa, traffic was moving slowly around 20kph, and I saw a car passing next to me with a woman driver with one hand holding the makeup case and with the other hand applying the make up!!!

So you think every one should speed off when a two-lane street becomes one lane

@ M Bartolo - never said speed off but surely one can't be helping the situation by taking his eyes off the road whilst driving at crawling speed just to see what happened. Those would be the ingredients to cause another accident. Hence your comment...well, forget it. You've gone at a tangent here. Suggest you read my comment again, slowly

Please note that the south bound road is clear of the collision.pure curiosity the south bound should have been moving as per usual.

@Matthew Vella:

This happens very often. Abroad, if there's an accident on the motorway, you often see that there's an even longer traffic jam in the other direction, of people slowing down to see what happened.
