55 apply to benefit from photovoltaic scheme

A total of 55 applications from people interested in installing photovoltaic panels have been received by the Malta Resources Authority today. Applications are being received until August 10.

The authority shall be refunding 50 per cent of the expense up to €3,000 through funds from the European Regional Development Fund.

Applications, which can be downloaded from the authority’s website, are being received until August 10 at 1 p.m.

The Sun will be turned off as from the 11th August. Apparently, the rumour that this is connected to Boiler #7 is unfounded.

@ portelli. at least we have a scheme, i will apply tommorow after working hours since MRA will recieve aplications till 6pm... why do we always have to moan... after all do you have a PV pannel installed? if no do it...

In my opinion this scheme is not worth it having a capping of only 3KW. This means you can only sell 3kW to the gov. Its all bull, there is always some hidden deal

It is only till the 10th for the simple reason that it is an ERDF (European) funded project and thus limited in funds and time.

As for the 3Kw (though I believe that it is stupid of Enemalta), a 1.6Kw PV system costing around 6000 Euros can only produce around 2.5Kw per year, so one shall never go above this limit if one has only one system.

so how many years are we talking about before we break even on the investment, less wear and tear.
