A man charged with seriously injuring a person and breaking his dentures during a fight was this morning remanded in custody. He is pleading not guilty.

Carmelo Vella, 46, of Bugibba was also charged with slightly injuring another person, damaging a car, grabbing hold of a knife during an argument and breaching the conditions of five previous releases, in which he had been granted bail against personal guarantees amounting to €35,000 and deposits of €7,000.

Police inspector Jesmond Borg told Magistrate Audrey Demicoli that the man had been given various chances to reform but refused to do so.

He had a number of pending cases and he still continued to breach bail conditions.

Defence lawyer Jose Herrera did not request bail.
