The faithful may, as from today, receive Holy Communion on the tongue, the Curia said.

The Curia had in July last year directed that the Host could only be received in the hands, because of fears over the spread of the A-H1N1 swine flu virus.

The Curia said it had been informed by the health authorities that there were no other cases of the virus in Malta and cases in Europe were very few. Last year's directive was therefore being withdrawn.
