'Voluntary' transfer of migrants back to Libya
It would be appropriate if, before the persons in charge decide on the fate of immigrants and transfer them "voluntarily" to Libya, they were to familiarise themselves with such publications as Do They Know? and other reliable information on the internet regarding conditions in Libya where African immigrants are concerned. Then maybe, when they have all the facts, they will be able to go to sleep in peace at the end of a busy day. And this has nothing to do with being Christian - just being human. Though, on the other hand, being Christian has everything to do with it.

It would be appropriate if, before the persons in charge decide on the fate of immigrants and transfer them "voluntarily" to Libya, they should ask these illegal immigrants to produce identity papers, passports etc. Most of all, ask these people where and how they ended up in the middle of the Mediterranean in this sinking brand new and disabled dinghy . ( Usual method). Who is the human trafficker who sold them this cruise to freedom and how much this venture cost them? These people take a chance knowing there is no guarantee they are going to make it. And now you say, we have to read them the bill of tights? How do they get a hold of these sophisticated radios? I guarantee you that these people are well informed before they start their journey. What you want to tell them, they already know. They know the risks and they are willing to take them even if they have to sacrifice some of them, like leaving their pregnant wives behind. Now that is what you should be writing about. Stop criticizing the AFM.
