Shannon's lionhearts

The Broadway cast and crew of The Lion King is trying to save the life of a child actress.

Shannon Tavarez, 11, who was forced to quit the show in April after she was diagnosed with leukaemia, needs a bone marrow transplant but has been unable to find the perfect match.

More than 700 people arrived at a bone marrow donor registration at New York's Minskoff Theatre, where members of the cast and crew helped potential donors swab the inside of their cheeks to see if their tissue type matched Shannon or anyone else needing a transplant.
