The Labour Party yesterday questioned the fate of a climate change report which had to be concluded by March.

In a statement, PL environment spokesman Leo Brincat said Resources Minister George Pullicino had set up a committee to see how the country could adapt to climate change last August.

Although the committee was due to conclude its work by March, a report had not been published and nobody was aware if it was concluded.

The Labour Party said the country needed a strategy on how to adapt to climate change in several sectors, including health, flooding, agriculture, tourism and biodiversity.

Mr Brincat said he hoped there would be no further delays and that the report would be debated in Parliament soon after the summer recess.

He underlined the need for a benchmarking mechanism for the agreed measures and to monitor their implementation.
