Air Malta to start Linate service
Air Malta is to launch a direct service to Milan's Linate airport in its winter schedule, while maintaining its flights to Malpensa.
The airline will fly to Linate on Saturdays (departing Malta at 8.55 a.m. and Linate at 11 a.m.) and on Sundays (departing Malta at 2.30 p.m. and Linate 6.25 p.m.)
Passenger flows from Milan have been increasing, as well as airline capacity. Links between Malta and Milan are operated by Air Malta, Alitalia and Easyjet.

Will someone start serving London-Stansted again?
It is probably Europe's largest lowcost airport, including flights to Asia.
What about Malmö, Göteborg, Cologne, Cork, Bremen and Nürnberg?
Ever since a couple of charter airlines, Air Berlin, Ryanair and Air Malta withdrew their services, these cities remain unserved from Malta, ...except through inconvenient and expensvie flights requiring a change of aircraft at other airports.
The MTA should also look into linking Malta to Portugal, Alicante, Bilbao and possibly Dortmund with nonstop services.

Good move by Airmalta...appreciated by all ski lovers! It is about time that Geneve is added to the winter schedule.

It's good to see Air Malta improving its service further however as a Maltese living in Milan and willing to come to Malta every weekend, I feel it makes little sense to introduce this flight when Air Malta already operates a flight Malta-Malpensa on Saturday 8.25am dep Malpensa 11.00am and a flight Malta-Malpensa on Sunday early afternoon. This is simply duplication of the existing service which is short from comfortable as it only allows those coming over less than 24hrs on the island.
May I suggest a late Friday evening flight from Linate which would make it more worthwhile for Maltese willing to spend the weekend with their family and Italians willing to come to Malta for a weekend break. Just a suggestion!
