Bishop Nikol Cauchi said: "Catholics should follow Christ's teaching and not wordly trends."

Mgr Cauchi, who was delivering a homily during Mass at Ta' Ħamet church on the feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, said Christ made it clear that divorce was wrong, and people knew it was not a solution to family problems, but rather complicated matters.

Mgr Cauchi called on the faithful to pray to the Virgin Mary to protect Maltese families.
