A noon-day gun plaque at the Upper Barrakka Gardens that was in dire need of a clean-up has been removed.

The plaque said:

“Another project implemented with the support of the Malta Tourism Authority in collaboration with the Restoration Unit and Fondazzjoni Wirt Artna. A better tourism product for the benefit of all”.

Last February, reader Lawrence Galea, had taken a photo of the plaque to show the state it was in. A few days ago he returned to the gardens to check whether it had been cleaned but found that it had been removed.

He asked how could tourists be encouraged to come to Malta and be informed of the activities taking place if things which needed cleaning or repair, were just removed.

The cleaning of the plaque, he pointed out, would have cost only a few euros.
