A Marsa resident has pleaded not guilty to the attempted murder of an acquaintance on Thursday.
Noel Farrugia, 31, from Marsa, was charged with trying to kill 40-year-old Omar Faiz El Sallak, a Libyan man married to a Maltese woman. He was remanded in custody.
The court heard that the two came to blows in Mr Farrugia’s apartment in Racecourse Street, Marsa. The argument escalated and Mr El Sallak was stabbed in the chest with a kitchen knife.
He was rushed to hospital in critical condition and is still at the Intensive Care Unit.
Mr Farrugia was also accused of seriously injuring Mr El Sallak and of being in possession of a sharp and pointed instrument at the time of the commission of a crime.
He did not request bail.
