Gale force winds silence top singers
The threat of gale force winds forecast for this afternoon forced the organisers to cancel tonight's eagerly-awaited concert by tenor Joseph Calleja.
Singing with Mr Calleja would have also been Dionne Warwick and Riccardo Cocciante.
NnG Promotions is still trying to establish the best alternative date to reschedule the concert at the Granaries, Floriana, and avoid drastically disappointing the thousands who booked months in advance.
The precautions were taken to ensure guests attending the event will enjoy the best possible experience and performance from all the artists and orchestra.
NnG Promotions director Anton Attard said structural engineers had advised postponing the concert for safety reasons. The wind could die down somewhat tomorrow, making it possible for the concert to be held then, Mr Attard said, adding that another option was to hold it next week, possibly Thursday.
Ticket holders are being advised to follow the regular media updates for more information.

Why not get this Maltese singer to change his tune and turn the record over and sing something we all know, a couple comes to mind > singing in the rian or even gone with the wind, or my friend the wind by Demis Roussos.

I really do not believe that the said EAGERLY AWAITED concert was cancelled due to gale force threat. I believe that the only cause of cancelling such concert is the lack of bookings, making it unworthy for the organisers and singers. A few days ago Joseph Calleja went to sing in an old peoples home. Why? To have a free advert on all the stations. If he did not want this free ride on the media he should have gone days after the concert. Opera singing in our country is dead.

the promoter could, at least issue a refund policy statement in the event that people cannot make in the first place. There is no excuse as to why the promoters are mum on the matter.
