A 36-year-old man from St Paul's Bay suffered serious injuries early yesterday morning in a head-on collision involving his Peugeot 106 and a Fiat 126 driven by a 23-year-old woman from Attard.

The accident happened in Burmarrad Road, Burmarrad.

Police and Civil Protection Department personnel were quickly on the scene and an ambulance team took the man to Mater Dei Hospital. where he was found to be suffering from serious but not life-threatening injuries.

In another accident, at 10.30 p.m. on Wednesday, a 26-year-old taxi driver from Żurrieq was hospitalised following a collision with another taxi driven by a 51-year-old man from Fgura.

The drivers, both driving Peugeot 406s, are suspected to have skidded on diesel in Council of Europe Street, Luqa. They were driving in the same direction.

The injured taxi driver was not in a critical condition, the police said.

Police investigations into both accidents are ongoing.
