Calleja presents hundreds of concert tickets to care institutions
Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja this afternoon presented a number of complimentary tickets for Saturday's concert to residents of several care institutions. The presentation was held at the Mediterranean Conference Centre during the first rehearsal to bring together Joseph Calleja, Riccardo Cocciante, Dionne Warwick and the Joseph Calleja HSBC Children's Choir.
Last year, Joseph Calleja presented 300 tickets to children residing in different homes. This year, he extended his personal initiative further, to also include homes for young people and adults.
The presentations were made to Dar Santa Tereza, Mount Carmel Young People's Unit, Dar Merhba Bik, Osanna Pia, Dar Fejda and Dar San Guzepp.
On Wednesday, Calleja delighted hundreds of elderly residents at San Vincenz de Paule residence during a brief private recital.
"Every year I look forward to performing in Malta, One of my dreams is to make this beautiful music accessible to everyone, across all generations. I trust that the evening will be a memorable and magical experience for all the people who receive these tickets."
On Saturday, Joseph will be joined on stage by Italian star Riccardo Cocciante and Dionne Warwick. Maltese singer Raquela and soprano Maria Abela will also be performing with Joseph Calleja.
Also taking part will be the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Mro Paul Bateman and the 500-strong Joseph Calleja HSBC children's choir under the guidance of Soprano Gillian Zammit.

Veru bniedem li haqqu ta min jaghtih gieh. Huwa umli hafna u jaħseb fil-baghtut. Jidher li hawn Malta hadd ma jaghti kaz nies bhal dawn. Jiena mort ftit ilu l-Mdina fejn hemm esebizzjoni ta nies marghufa u lanqas semplici ritratt tieghu ma hemm. F'din l-esebizzjoni hemm nis li haqqhom ilkollhom ritratt għal dak li ghamlu ghal pajjiz u oħrajn le. Jista xi hadd jghid fuq liema kriterju dawn ir-ritratti tpoġġew u għaliex ma hemmx wieħed ta' Joseph it-tenur kbir Malti? Li naf zgur li rajt ritratti ta tenuri oħra Maltin, u anki ta nies oħra li jahdmu fuq il-park.

Music brings some much to so many people across the world. Maltese tenor Joseph Calleja is literally conveying this in his own way. He will be justly and greatly rewarded oneday. Maltese artists and musicians should never give up their hopes for making a difference on the world stage. There is alot of talent in Malta. I also wish Maltese singer Raquela and soprano Maria Abela, nothing but the very best. Lovely voices indeed.
Saturday is going to be great spectacle, thats for sure. Pity, I will miss out on it.

Prosit to Joseph Calleja! Very well done! I sincerely hope that the Maltese people, especially our youngsters, will develop a love for classical music. Music is the food of love, says Shakespeare..
