August 10-14, Congress of the International Commission for the Scientific Exploration of the Mediterranean Sea, Venice

This event will bring together researchers from across the Mediterranean, offering opportunities for sharing new ideas among peers, developing new projects and making invaluable contacts. This conference will focus on the need for innovation within European industry as well as the major obstacles which are often encountered. It will also explore the future perspectives in newly developed manufacturing technologies, materials and nanotechnologies. Finally, the social, environmental sustainability and competitiveness perspectives of the European manufacturing sector will be examined. Participants are expected to come from industry, research organisations, universities and policy entities. There will also be opportunities to meet and discuss possi­bilities and proposals for cooperation and improved integration in the near future.

September 14 – 15, Integrating Innovation and Investment – Ambient-Assisted Living Investment Forum 2010, Odense, Denmark

Ambient-assisted living products and services are ICT-based solutions, such as in-home monitoring devices or telemedicine systems, which help seniors remain independent, active and socially connected for a longer time. The Ambient-Assisted Living Forum 2010 will be preceded by an Investment Forum which will be held at the Odense Congress Centre in Denmark. It aims to stimulate more innovation and investment in AAL by bringing together innovative ICT enterprises in the Ageing Well market with potential public and private investors.

September 17-18, Fourth International Workshops on Foundations and Techniques for Open Source Software Certification, Pisa

Over the past decade, open source software has had a global impact on the way software systems and software-based services are developed, distributed and deployed. OSS has been praised for low development and maintenance costs, rapid code turnover, and reliability. The workshop will bring together researchers from academia and industry who are broadly interested in the quality assessment of open source software projects, ultimately leading to the establishment of coherent certification processes at different levels. Foundational, methodological and pragmatic issues will be addressed through standard technical communications and reports on concrete case studies and experimental data.

September 27, European Tourism Day 2010, Brussels

Leader projects, policy officers, local and regional authorities, universities and other actors involved in tourism will participate in this event that will be mainly devoted to the promotion and valorisation of European citizenship and cultural and historical heritage.
